| These prints called
Ukiyo-e (pictures of the floating world) would depict
famous Kabuki actors, Sumo wrestlers, Geisha and traditional literary subjects,
as well as favorite natural wonders and also everyday life. Because Japan was a
closed society from the 1600's to mid 1800's they are a uniquely Japanese art
form and represent the last flowering of traditional pictorial art before Japan
entered the modern era.
We have taken work from such popular artists as Hokusai, Hiroshige, and Yoshitoshi and refashioned them into handmade trays and boxes for your enjoyment.
