| Lacquer
techniques from Vietnam date back over 500 years. Crafts
people soaked materials such as bamboo to make it pliable for lacquering
. For example our coiled bamboo lacqured jars are soaked for three
months and coiled into a bowl shape. It is then lacqured over 15
times to give it strength and a soft burnish look. Not a machine
look, these beautiful handmade pieces have the markings and blemishes
of the natural materials it was made of. Take a look at our Woven
Deep Red trays, a favorite of the designers. |
